Due to mischief during the election campaign, the Election Commission has stopped Union Minister Maneka Gandhi and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from campaigning.
Maneka Gandhi has been stopped for 48 hours and Ajam Khan for 72 hours of election campaign. According to the Election Commission, these two leaders have violated code of conduct during the campaign.
Using the powers conferred under Article 324 of the Constitution, the Commission has becriticizing the attitude of the two leaders and preventing them from participating in the campaign anywhere in the country. This is the second time that Azam Khan has been banned from campaigning by the Commission.
