Emperor Akihito of Japan left the throne on April 30, 2019 and he is the first Japanese emperor to do this in the last 200 years.

Akihito has left the throne while talking about not being able to properly discharge responsibilities due to his growing age and poor health.

After Akihito, Rajkumar Naruhesho will sit on this throne. Naruhito is the eldest son of Emperor Akihito. Japan's 126th emperor will be crowned on 01 May 2019. He has studied at Oxford University.

For the first time in nearly 200 years, the first emperor to leave the throne in the two centuries was the first to be retired in the world's oldest royal family.

Akihito has sacrificed his throne with his will. They gave signs of leaving the throne in 2016. Japan was formally held in the royal palace about leaving the throne of Emperor Akihito.
