Five year vision plan EQUIP finalized and released by HRD Ministry

The Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Human Resource Development finalized and released a five-year vision plan called the Education Quality Upgradation and Inclusion Program.

The expert groups have set the following goals for the higher education sector:
  • Doubling the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education and resolving access to geographically and socially heterogeneous o higher education institutions in India
  • Upgrade the quality of education on global standards.
  • Status of at least 50 Indian institutions among top 1,000 global universities
  • Introduction to government reforms in higher education for well-managed campuses.
  • Accreditation of all institutions as an assurance of quality.
  • In matters of knowledge creation, promote research and innovation ecosystems for India's position in the top 3 countries in the world.
  • To double the employability of students dropping out of higher education.
  • Harness education technology to expand access and improve pedagogy.
  • Promoting India as a global study destination.
