Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced a major announcement on June 28, 2019. In this announcement, he said that in the recruitment of more than 9,000 Constable and sub-Inspector's posts in the Railways, 50 per cent will be given to women. That is, in this recruitment to Railways, only 50% of the posts will be recruited.
This will prove to be a golden opportunity for women. Indian Railways had announced the decision to provide more than 4 lakh people under the 10 percent reservation till 2021. It was stated that recruitment process would be started soon. Piyush Goyal had said that at present, Indian Railways has an approved number of 15.06 lakh employees, out of which 12.23 lakh employees are employed whereas the remaining 2.82 lakh posts are vacant.
According to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, only women will be recruited for 50% posts in the constable and sub-constable recruitment of 9 thousand posts in the Railways.
The Government has taken this decision keeping in mind the number of women in the RPF in the present time. The Government has decided that recruitment of 9000 posts of RPF will be 50% i.e. 4500 posts of women will be recruited.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that at present, only 2.25 percent of the RPF women are women. He said that in these recruitments our focus will be on the recruitment of women. This recruitment process will be completed soon. On the instructions of the Prime Minister to increase the participation of women in RPF, the Ministry has decided to recruit women on half posts in the next recruitment.
