Missile destroyer INS Ranjit will be retired

Indian Navy recently announced the deployment of India's important missile destroyer INS Ranjit. INS Ranjit will be sent to Naval Dockyard after 36 years of service on 6th May, 2019. This vessel will be freed by organizing a function at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam

The function will include those officers who have worked on INS Ranjit in the past and will also include the officer, sailor who is part of the commission crew. INS Ranjit is the third of the five destroyers of Kashin class. It was constructed by the Soviet Union.

The foundation of this ship was laid on 29 June 1977 and it was launched on June 16, 1979. It was incorporated in the Navy on 15 September 1983 in the form of INS Ranjit. Capt Vishnu Bhagwat was the first chief. Bhagwat was also the Naval Chief from 1996-98.

INS Ranjit, who has played the role of 'Sadan Jayanti', has played an important role in the security of the country and has been involved in many operations.
