Kumar Sangakkara became the first non-British president of the Merilibon Cricket Club

Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakara has been declared the first non-British president of the Merilibon Cricket Club (MCC) recently. He has been appointed to the post for the next one year. This is the first time in the last 233 years of history that when a non-British has been appointed to this post.

Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara has been made the lifetime honorary member of MCC. The Council believes that they have made special effects in world cricket in the last seven years.

Earlier, English cricketer Ted Dexter, Derek Underwood, Mike Brierley, Colin Cowdrey, Mike Gatting and Gabi Allen played the role of MCC.
