International Labor Day was celebrated on May 01, 2019 around the world. Not only in India, around 80 countries in the world have a national holiday on this day. It is also known as 'May Day'. It is celebrated to promote and encourage international labor unions
This day is celebrated by workers and workers of organized or unorganized sectors. The working class organizes big rallies on this day. Labor Awakening programs are broadcast on the Labor Day through propagation media like TV, Newspaper and Radio, and large politicians also make several important announcements for the welfare of the working class on this day.

Why Labor Day is celebrated on May 01?
The commemorative day commemorating the International Labor Day is considered as 01 May 1886 when the unarmed workers of the United States strike for more than eight hours. In India Labor Labor Party of India started Labor Day in Madras on 01 May 1923.
Although at that time it was celebrated as Madras Day. For the laborers, eight hours of work and better facilities were restored in the beginning of the 19th century. This date was chosen by Socialist and communist political parties' organization Second International. At that time on May 4, 1886, this day was scheduled to celebrate Heymarkit Affair in Chicago.
