Sri Lanka's Defense Secretary quits

Defense Secretary Hemsiri Fernando resigned after the terrorist attack on the occasion of Easter in Sri Lanka's Colombo. Following the Easter bombings, Sri Lankan President Maitripala Sirisena had asked for the resignation of Defense Secretary Hemsiri Fernando, after which he resigned on April 25, 2019.

At Easter, there were suicide attacks in churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, in which according to the report, at least 360 people were killed. Apart from this, more than 500 people were injured.

After this, Sri Lankan President Maitripala Sirisena had asked for the resignation of Defense Secretary Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujit Jaisundra for his resignation due to the failure to stop the blasts despite intelligence inputs.
