Election Commission has imposed a 72-hour ban on the promotion of Navjot Singh Sidhu. 72-hour restriction has been imposed on the campaigning of the Congress leader and minister in the Punjab government, while claiming that he is responsible for the alleged communal remarks made during an election rally in Bihar. This ban on Navjot Singh Sidhu has been effective from 23 April 2019 to 10 a.m.

Before this, the Election Commission had earlier issued a notice to the Navjot Singh Sidhu on April 20, 2019 for violating Model Code of Conduct during an election rally in Katihar, Bihar. In the notice, the Commission has mentioned the use of religion during the appeals made by Siddhu on April 15 in support of Congress candidate Tariq Anwar from Katihar.
