National Emergency declared in Sri Lanka

After the serial blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter, after the blasts, an emergency has occurred since midnight on April 22, 2019. This step has been taken to give greater powers to the security forces in the fight against terrorism.

The National Security Council, deciding to take conditional emergency from midnight, said that this measure has been taken to target terrorism and this will not disrupt the freedom of expression. The number of deaths in these blasts has increased to 290, including 8 Indians. Significantly, this is the most violent incident since the civil war ended in the country about a decade ago.
