Metro train |
For the first time on April 18, 2019 in Delhi, a solar-powered metro train was run between the Central Secretariat from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on the metro's air line. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said that it has started getting solar power from Rewa Solar Power Plant (Madhya Pradesh) and now it will be used in the operation of trains.
According to Metro officials, the use of solar energy will be done in the operation of the Metro, along with automatic stairs, elevators and other works. The purpose of the Delhi Metro is to transfer its entire operation to solar energy over the next few years under solar energy policy. If this happens, the Delhi Metro will become the first 100% solar powered metro in the world.
