India's G. Sathyan became the first Indian to make the top 25 in Table Tennis World Ranking on April 29, 2019.

In the latest rankings released by ITTF, Sathiyan has reached 24th position with the advantage of four positions. He had secured sixth position in the Asia Cup in Yokohama this month, which helped him.

He was the only player in India to make the rounds of World Championship in Hungary in Hungary.

Veteran Sharath Kamal, who suffered a run of 64 in the round-of-64 in Hungary, has moved up to 46th from nine places. India's number one female player Manika Batra has also lost three places and is at 59th place.

G Sathiyan was born on January 08, 1993 in Chennai. Sajiyan was also given the Arjuna Award in the year 2018. He has shown tremendous game in the last 18 months and has made it to the top-100 and now the top-25.

They have to play in Pro Turas, Ultimate Table Tennis League and Commonwealth Championships in the coming months. After that he will take part in the World Cup.

Sathiyan was the first engineer, but later he started playing table tennis. He won gold medal with Achant Sharat Kamal, Anthony Amalraj, Sanil Shetty and Harmeet Desai in the team event of the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast.

In the men's doubles competition, he won silver medal with Acht Sharat Kamal and Bronze medal in mixed doubles competition with Manika Batra.
