Indian Navy launches second edition of bilateral marine practice between the Indian Navy and Vietnam People's Navy in Vietnam from April 13 to April 2019 in Camarat Bay, Vietnam. This practice was done as part of the overseas deployment of ships of Eastern Fleet in Southeast Asian countries.
Captain Aditya Hara under the command of Captain Shriram Amur and IN Shipps Kolkata participated in the exercise. Indian Navy-Vietnam People's Navy bilateral practice is an important step towards sharing best practices between Indian and Vietnam People's Navy as well as strengthening mutual trust and inter-operability.
Indian Navy and Vietnam People's Navy have traditionally shared good relations.
By conducting bilateral exercises on an annual basis, further strengthening of existing bilateral relations between the two countries, which has been extended to the level of 'comprehensive strategic partnership' since 16 September after the Honorable Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam.
Naval cooperation includes an overall training program in the field of submarine, aviation and dockyard training. Both countries have signed an agreement for exchange of White Shipping Information and have run an 'Information sharing' program.
