Govt introduces bill to amend Companies Act

1. On 20 December 2018, the government of India introduced a bill to amend the Companies Act in Lok Sabha.
2. The bill seeks to improve the ease of doing business in India.
3. The bill will replace the ‘Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2018’ that was promulgated in November 2018.
4. The amendments will help reduce the burden on special courts and bring down applicable penalties for small companies.
