The Supreme Court heard on 24 June 2019 in the case of children who died of sperm fever in Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The apex court has issued notice to the Center and the Bihar Government on three issues in this matter.
The bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice B R Gawai asked the Bihar government to take steps for dealing with the disease and file an affidavit regarding the facilities provided.
Order passed by Supreme Court
The Supreme Court said that the Center and Bihar government should file affidavits within seven days and tell them that detailed information about the treatment, cleanliness and nutrition of the children who died due to fever, in acute encephalitis syndrome in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The Supreme Court said that whether the central government has made a policy regarding this.
An advocate informed the court during the hearing of the case that similar deaths have already happened in Uttar Pradesh. Taking cognizance of this, the court asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply in this case. The court then adjourned the hearing of this case for 10 days.
Order of inquiry against Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, on the other hand, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court of Bihar ordered the inquiry against Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey. CJM Court gave this order of inquiry during a hearing on a social worker's petition.

Fever and its symptoms

BACKGROUND: There was a fierce stroke with lightning fever in Bihar last month. Bihar's Muzaffarpur district has witnessed the highest incidence of fever. Nearly 130 children have died so far from Mungfaharpur's spinach fever. At the same time, the number of children who died of sperm fever in whole of Bihar is more than 170.
