"NGT issued instructions to set up biodiversity related committees"!

  • National Green Tribunal (NGT) has instructed the Environment and Forests Ministry to file report on the formation of committees on biodiversity within three months at every level in each state. A bench headed by NGT chairman Justice Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel has asked states not to form the Biodiversity Committee so that they should file an affidavit with the details of the reasons for the delay.
  • The bench of the NGT has said that the information related to the completion of the next stages within three months should be sent by e-mail by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF). During this time the charge relating to the subject may be present along with the compliance report on the next date.
  • During the hearing, a monitoring committee formed by the tribunal informed that 2,52,709 biodiversity management committees were to be formed by the Panchayats but only 1,44,371 committees have been constituted, which show a difference of more than one lakh Is there.
  • According to Peoples Biodiversity Registers, 6,834 documents have been prepared till date, in which only 1,814 are in progress. On August 08, 2018, a monitoring committee was formed by the NGT, which included officials of the Ministry of Forest and Environment and National Biodiversity Authority. This committee was asked to submit the report as soon as possible.
