Discovered plastic residues disappearing from the Indian Ocean

the Indian Ocean

Researchers at Western Australia University (UWA) conducted a brief study to measure and track plastic residues in the Indian Ocean (where it goes). In this study the team found that plastic from the Southern Indian Ocean is moving towards the western part of the ocean, from where it flows from South Africa into the South Atlantic Ocean.

Due to the Asian Monsoon System, south-east winds in the southern Indian Ocean move faster than the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean winds. This study was published in 'General of Geological Research'.
