Bajrang Poonia

World number one Bajrang Poonia retained the Asian Wrestling Championship title by placing ten points consecutively in the gold medal on April 23, 2019 while Pravin Rana had to be satisfied with the silver medal. Bajrang Poonia won gold medal in men's 65kg freestyle final by defeating Kazakhstan's Syyatbek Oakasov 12-7.
This is the second gold medal in Bajrang's championship. Earlier, he won the title in 2017 too. This is his fifth medal in this tournament. With this performance, Bajrang has again sent messages to his rivals that he is a strong contender for the medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
