- The US President Donald Trump signed the ‘Asia Reassurance Initiative Act’ (ARIA) into law.
- ARIA was earlier passed in the US Senate in December 2018.
- The act establishes a multifaceted U.S. strategy to increase US security, economic interests, and values in the Indo-Pacific region.
- The ARIA will authorise $1.5 billion in spending for a range of U.S. programs in East and Southeast Asia.
