  1. Cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar passed away in Mumbai on 2 January 2019.
  2. He was the Sachin Tendulkar’s cricket coach.
  3. In 1990, he was honoured with the Dronacharya Award for Outstanding coaches in Sports and Games.
  4. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri in 2010.
  5. In 2010, he was honoured the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award by the Sports Illustrated.
