Triple Talaq bill passed in Lok Sabha

  1. The Lok Sabha passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2018 on 27 December 2018.
  2. The Bill makes all declarations of instant triple talaq void and illegal.
  3. It seeks to make the practice a punishable offense with imprisonment of up to three years.
  4. The Bill will replace the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance-2018.
