Patrick to be acting Defence Secretary

1. US President Donald Trump appointed Patrick Shanahan as acting Defence Secretary on 23 December 2018.
2. He will take the post from 1 January 2019.
3. He will replace Defence Secretary Jim Mattis.
4. At present, he is the Deputy Defence Secretary.
5. He was a former executive at the aerospace giant Boeing.
