  1. Legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen passed away in Kolkata on 31 December 2018.
  2. He is a Padma Bhushan and Dada Saheb Phalke awardee.
  3. He made his directorial debut with ‘Raat Bhore’ in 1955.
  4. He is known for making films that focussed on socio-political issues
  5. He was also a member of the Indian People’s Theatre Association.
