National Consumer Day: 24 December

1. National Consumer Day is observed in India every year on 24 December.
2. The theme for 2018 National Consumer Day is ‘Timely Disposal of Consumer Complaints’.
3. On this day the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President.
4. The Consumer Protection Act aims to provide consumers with effective safeguards against different types of exploitation.
