Modric won ‘Balkan Athlete of the Year’ award

1. Croatia football captain Luka Modric was named ‘Balkan Athlete of the Year’ on 27 December 2018.
2. He is the second football player to win the prize.
3. He also won the ‘Ballon d’Or’ award 2018.
4. Bulgaria’s Hristo Stoichkov was the first football player to win the ‘Balkan Athlete of the Year award in 1994.
