- According to the Reserve Bank of India, the Current Account Deficit (CAD) widened to 2.9% of GDP for the July-September quarter.
- The deficit for the second quarter was $19.1 billion.
- The CAD for the April-June quarter was 2.4% of GDP or $15.9 billion.
- The widening of CAD on a year-on-year basis was primarily on account of a higher trade deficit at $50 billion.
