Cabinet approves agri export policy

1. The Union Cabinet approved the Agriculture Export Policy on 6 December 2018.
2. The new policy aims to double India’s farm exports to $60 billion by 2022
3. It is aimed at boosting exports of agriculture commodities such as tea, coffee and rice and increase the country’s share in global agri-trade.
4. The policy is also expected to provide an institutional mechanism to tackle market barriers.
