15 new breeds of livestocks registered

  1. ICAR has approved registration of record 15 new breeds of livestock and poultry this year.
  2. These include 2 cattle breeds – Ladakhi and Konkan Kapila (Maharashtra & Goa); 3 buffalo breeds – Luit (Assam & Manipur), Bargur (TN), Chhattisgarhi etc.
  3. The process of identification of animal breeds and their documentation plays a special role in preserving the biodiversity of the country.
