  1. ISRO’s heaviest and most-advanced high throughput communication satellite ‘GSAT-11’ was launched from French Guiana on 5 December 2018.
  2. Admiral Sunil Lanba, chief of the Naval Staff, released a book titled ‘Blue Waters Ahoy!’ authored by Vice Admiral Anup Singh.
  3. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting launched the books: ‘The Republican Ethic’ and ‘Loktantra Ke Swar’ on 8 December 2018.
  4. The government of India has constituted a six-member committee, headed by NITI Aayog’s Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar, to look at selling small and marginal oil and gas fields of ONGC and Oil India.
  5. Cambridge Dictionary has named ‘nomophobia’ as ‘People’s Word of 2018’.
  6. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 2019.
